Taicang municipal meteorology office issued a yellow alert on July 27, as the temperature soared to 36 degrees Celsius.

The alert was issued to warn residents that Taicang would experience highs of above 35 degrees Celsius between July 28 and 30.

Weather alerts for high temperature are categorized into three grades of yellow, orange and red, with red signaling the highest temperatures.
