Yichang in Hubei Province plans to invest 15 billion yuan to build the junction of Huangbai River and the Sanjiang Ship Channel into a famous travel port like Victoria Harbor in Hong Kong. The project has begun preliminary construction, including the rebuilding of Pinghu Peninsula squatter settlements.
The Yichang Pinghu Peninsula is an important area in the Western Hubei ecological circle located between the Yangtze River and Huangbai River with an area of about 1.1 square kilometers. Yichang plans to build the area into a travel industry base with museums, art districts, vacation villages and international yacht clubs as well as shopping and business centers.
The project will be coordinated with the West Hubei Ecological Circle development project that will be built over five years in stages.
