Three archeological areas become national key cultural units
By Li Yang ( chinadaily.com.cn )

Three archeological areas in Ruzhou have been listed as China’s National Key Relics Cultural Protection Units recently.

They include the Lee Building Site, Meishan Site and Ruzhou Porcelain Site of the Song Dynasty (AD 420-479).

The Lee Building Site and Meishan Site are both sites of ancient Chinese villages that date back about 4,500 years. They have important cultural and historical value for China’s research of the transition from the Neolithic Age to the Xia Dynasty (c. 21st century – 16th century BC), as well as people’s life and habitation situations at that time.

Rice grains from the sites show that at that time, rice was already planted in this area. People of that period had also grasped copper smelting technology.

The newly added units are also believed to have enriched the cultural connotation of Ruzhou city.
