The Accordion World Champion Night Concert is being held on August 22 at the Huaxi Park's music plaza, in Guiyang, capital city of Guizhou province.
The concert is part of a series of activities of the 17th Huaxi Summer Arts Festival. The public can enjoy a musical feast from the world's best accordion players for free.
The concert is sponsored by the Huaxi district government, Huaxi district publicity department, and Huaxi culture, radio, film and TV bureau. Other support comes from the Guizhou Accordion Academy, the Huaxi Culture Center and the German Hohner Accordion Co.
Varuzhan Shanshiyev, a Ukrainian artist who won the world's popular accordion championship and is known for his strong performances and wild imagination, will join the concert.
Liu Zhao, China's first professional accordion player, will perform in the event as well. He won the first prize at the 65th World Trophy Accordion Championship, the only Chinese person in history to have won the honor.
Other distinguished artists include Tan Jialiang, a teacher from Peking University's accordion orchestra. Tan's work, Dance of Maple, was selected for the required play list in the Harbin International Accordion Music Festival of 2010.
