With the idea of promoting the zone's tourism industry, the Pingtan Tourism Co has been inaugurated in Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, Fujian province on Dec 24, local news portal ptnet.cn reported.

The new company is a joint venture between the Pingtan State Asset Investment Group and Pingtan Municipal Engineering Co.

Officials said that due to Pingtan's goal of becoming an international tourist island, establishing such a company was necessary.

Different from the non-profit Pingtan Tourism Development Co, this one is profit-making and aims to expand the zone's tourism market as well as enhance the influence of local tourism, said Yu Hengbing, general manager of Pingtan State Asset Investment Group.

Yu added that the company expected to get listed in the next three years and will draw attention from top investment companies at home and abroad, to seek investment from them.
