The headquarters, occupying an area of 86,009 square meters, consists of 18 structures from two to 10 floors connected to each other by air corridors. Fourteen of the 20 air corridors have been finished, and the rest is expected to be completed in mid-May.

Interior work will begin right after the buildings are capped, workers said.

The headquarters serves as an office space for small and medium-sized Taiwanese enterprises. It will also be responsible for economic and trade?operations of a local?port. It is expected to become a base for cross-Straits economic and trade cooperation, and a free trade area in the long run.

The construction started in December, and total investment added up to more than 1.4 billion yuan ($224 million).
