The first Cross-Straits City Design Biennial, a major tribute activity for the 2012 Cultural Expo, was held in the Xiamen Culture and Art Gallery from Oct 25 to 29.

The four-day cultural event featuring creative urban designs surprised local citizens. Song Zhenyi from the Taiwan creative culture center noted that some household items such as folded bicycles, carved stools and loudspeakers were popular at the show. They attracted many potential buyers.

Exhibition halls displaying the Visual Arts, Creative Space and Live Wisely exhibits offered intriguing cultural concepts to local students who said "it was inspirational and reminded them of their graduation art show".

Taiwan artists hoped that the event could attract cross-Straits designers for future cooperation in the cultural industry.
