Lantern riddles are riddles written on colored lanterns. In Chinese language, it is also called "lantern tiger", while solving it is called "shooting lantern tiger". It is an age-old recreational activity, popular among Chinese people. In Jinjiang, it has been passed on from one generation to the next. Now, in this hometown of overseas Chinese, riddle convention is held every year, along with riddle contests and efforts to compile and publish riddle-related books, all of which have received warm welcome from the people.
