Terraced fields in Youxi county, Fujian province. The vast terraced fields – more than 10,000 mu (667 hectares) – scattered over eight villages in Youxi-- were listed among the National Important Agricultural and Cultural Heritages in 2013. Youxi has step up efforts to protect terraced fields by building more advanced agricultural facilities and improving farming conditions. It is also exploring rural tourism on the unique lands.
