Customs authorities in Pingtan handled 155 pieces of precious artware on May 27 before they were shipped to Taiwan, ptnet.cn reports.

The artware, after passing inspection, was shipped to Taichung city the next day before reaching the Kaohsiung city for a cultural exhibition which will kick off on June 30 and last one month.

“Previously the approval of artware for overseas exhibitions would take about 20 days. But thanks to Pingtan Customs, we completed the inspection in three days,” said Luo Shengbao, general manager of a trading company responsible for the transport of the artware.

The cost of sea transportation is much lower than air transportation, as it only takes two and a half hours. The company will likely to normalize this pattern in Pingtan in the future, he said.

The artware, with a total value of nearly 30 million yuan, contains Shoushan stone carvings, Dehua ceramics, cork patchworks and wood carvings.
