The General Office of the Xiamen Municipal Government recently published an announcement on promoting the implementation of a direct-pipe drinking water system to save water resources in the city.

The direct drinking water system will be first equipped in buildings that are newly built or under construction in the Siming and Huli District’s, including commercial buildings, government offices, hotels and other kinds of buildings. The other districts - Haicang, Jimei, Tong’an, and Xiang’an - will establish their water supply development goals and implement plans based on their own specific situations.

According to the Xiamen Water Treatment Technology Co., Ltd., the detailed plan of Xiamen’s direct drinking water system is still being discussed and the results of those discussions are expected to be announced by the end of 2014.
