Summary:
An innovative ecosystem needs to be able to provide abundant resources for innovation and for starting a business, which should include a mechanism for technology resource allocation and resource flow, and a culture that encourages innovation.
China's innovation demonstration areas, such as the Zhongguancun Science Park, in Beijing, the Donghu district of Wuhan, Hubei province, the Zhangjiang Science Park in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangdong province, and the Hefei-Wuhu-Bengbu innovation areas in Anhui province have accumulated a lot of useful experience in constructing an innovative ecosystem, with emphasis on the role of enterprises, integrating resources globally, coordinating platforms, combining technology and finance, and innovating mechanism. However, we need to be aware of the problems involved in developing innovative ecosystems, for example, if enterprises do not play a large role, if there is insufficient coordination in technological innovation or guarantee of technology, talent, and funds.
The country needs to reform its science and technology institutions, improve the environment for innovation, and use enterprises more in establishing open innovation.
