Wuhu food appears on A Bite of China
Updated: 2014-05-05

Wuhu local specialties appeared in the third episode of the second season of A Bite of China, which aired on May 2.

A Bite of China is a Chinese documentary television series about the history of food, eating, and cooking in China. The first season was broadcast in 2011 and quickly gained record-breaking ratings and widespread popularity.

According to Chen Xiaoqing, general director of documentary television series, the second season of A Bite of China continues the theme of the first season, "exploring the relationship between people and food". Since last January, the crew travelled more than 40 million kilometers, and visited 150 places to find the wild ingredients, and traditional cooking methods.

The second season contains seven episodes, titled Footsteps, Heart's Message, Seasons, Daily Domestics, Realm of Secrets, Encounters and Three Meals, and is being broadcast from April 18 to June 6, on CCTV-1 every Friday at 21:00, repeated an hour later on the Documentary Channel (CCTV-9). In addition, it will go out on CCTV- 2, CCTV-7 and CCTV-14 at later times.

The documentary series has also gained popularity abroad. In the just-finished 51st Cannes Television Festival, international media buyers flooded to purchase the overseas distribution rights, which means Wufu food will become known to more and more international audiences.
