Hefei unveils plan for protection of ancient relics
Updated: 2013-06-07

Hefei, the capital of Anhui province, has developed a plan to protect historical relics, wich is the first plan of this type for the city.

Details of the plan were released on June 5, and it states that no effort will be spared to protect and also develop as tourist destinations and cultural treasures, including ancient ruins, tombs, and temples.

Visitors will be able to explore the city by using six routes, which will take them to most of Hefei's historical sites.

In addition, any surrounding buildings or other structures will be built in accordance with the style of the relics, and there will be restrictions concerning color and height. The buildings around Baogong Park and Baogong Temple will have to follow the Anhui style of grey and white walls, red bricks, and black tiles.

The plan concerns a total of 280 relic sites, including 38 key protection projects, such as the Ancestral Hall of the Gao Family, Dayandun Tombs and Chenghuang Temple.

Hefei is also home to Sanhe Ancient Town, Luzhou Cultural Town on Wuhu Road, and Tangchi Old Street.
