WASHINGTON - US Defense Secretary Robert Gates, who will visit China starting Sunday, said on Thursday he hoped to use the trip to seek a deeper dialogue with Beijing on areas of mutual interest, including?the Democratic?People's Republic of?Korea?(DPRK) and Iran.

"I think expanding that dialogue is really important," said Gates, ahead of the January 9-12 visit.
