The 'Parachute' singer - who dumped the England soccer player this week following allegations he has cheated on her with five women - has decided to give Ashley a chance to explain his actions and discuss the future of their seemingly broken marriage.
A source said: "Ashley has been texting her nonstop and Cheryl has tentatively agreed to see him. Cheryl's in two minds but believes they should meet like adults to discuss what's happened."
It is believed Cheryl, 26, intends to see 29-year-old Ashley next week to talk through their problems.
However, the Girls Aloud star's closest friends are worried the sportsman will convince her to give him another chance, despite his infidelities.
The source added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Her friends are worried he could still win her back. Even though she's furious about the way he's behaved, no one's convinced her she's totally over him. She's hurt and confused."
Ashley is currently in Biarritz, France, receiving treatment on a broken ankle at a private medical clinic.
While out of the UK the Chelsea player has apparently sent an avalanche of text messages to Cheryl in a bid to save their three-and-a-half year marriage.
She is staying at their Surrey home but left the house for the first time in days last night (26.02.10) to go and see Lady Gaga perform at The 02 Arena in London.
