'Dawson's Creek' actress Katie Holmes has reportedly opted out of a Oscar nomination.

According to sources, Tom Cruise's fiancee has killed her own chance at Oscar glory by "respectfully declining" the offer of Fox Searchlight Pictures, who wanted to include her name in the list of possible Oscar nominations for her performance in Thank You for Smoking.

"Searchlight Pictures wanted to include Katie's name as a possible Oscar nominee on the screener of 'Thank You for Smoking' sent to Academy members. But Katie's people respectfully declined the offer," the New York Post quoted a source, as saying.

The movie did not go down too well with Cruise because there were nude scenes of Holmes in it, and at the film's premiere at the Sundance Festival, which Tom attended, it shocked the audience when one of Katie's sex scenes went mysteriously missing.

In the film, Katie plays an investigative reporter who ends up in bed with tobacco lobbyist Aaron Eckhart.

Katie, 27, is set to marry Tom on November 18 in Italy. The couple have a six-month-old daughter, Suri, together.
