HK share index falls below 10,000 mark

Hong Kong share prices fell 3.3 percent to close below the key 10,000 level Wednesday, led by declines in key property stocks as falls on Wall Street continued to batter investor confidence, dealers said.

The key Hang Seng index shed 341.90 points to close at 9,971.99, off a low of 9,912.96 and a high of 10,133.65, on turnover of HK$9.15 billion (US$1.17 billion).
