A group exhibition of four well-known Chinese ink painters is displaying more than 100 portraits at the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing until April 8.

The exhibition, titled "South and North Portraits", invited two ink painters from southern China and two others from northern China. The painters — Wang Zan, Zhou Jingxin, Zhang Jiangzhou, Wang Yingsheng — spent more than 30 years studying and practicing ink portraits. Their subjects include workers, farmers and ethnic groups. They also focus on people living in modern cities, their friends or strangers around them. The center is open from 9 am to 5 pm, but closes its doors on Mondays. It is located at 2 West Chang'an Jie in Xicheng district.
