Taiwan's Chinese-American singer, Jeffery Huang, received an e-mail from one of his Americanfriends in April 2007, which mentioned that Japanese officials had placed advertisements in two major American newspapers denying the Nanjing Massacre in 1937. This was a time that the 70th anniversary of the massacre drew near. Driven by indignation and based on various historical records, Huang wrote the single "Nanjing 1937".
