Indian trek into Tibet dissatisfies Beijing

China Daily | Updated: 2009-10-14 07:56

The Foreign Ministry voiced its dissatisfaction of the reported visit of an Indian leader to a Himalayan region, the latest incident to fan the debate over border issues between the two nations.

Though Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu would not mention a name, he blamed an Indian leader of ignoring China's concerns of visiting "Arunachal Pradesh," which China considers southern Tibet. A Reuters report said that Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh traveled to the mountainous region earlier this month in the runup to the country's state assembly election yesterday.

Ma said China and India have never officially settled the demarcation of the border between the two nations.
