Vocational training program benefits 25,000 youngsters

The vocational education program Skills to Succeed has helped 25,553 youngsters in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou to improve their vocational skills in the past five years.

The program was co-developed by the non-governmental organization Save the Children and the professional services company Accenture.

As people move from rural areas to urban centers, many teenagers are unable to land good jobs as they lack skills.

The limited education resources and job opportunities also make it difficult for them to integrate into the city life and social environment.

Skills to Succeed program helps them with interviewing skills, career planning, and also some specific skill training courses. It also acts as bridge between companies and vocational schools, and provides support in job hunting.

Zhu Hong, president of the corporate citizenship committee of Accenture Greater China, said that by 2020, they aim to provide job skills or entrepreneurship education to more than three million people globally with Accenture's partners.

In China, Accenture would also continue to provide financial support, consulting and volunteer services to help more people realize sustainable and successful transformation in their careers.
