Alpacas are examined at an animal quarantine station in Daxing, Beijing, on Tuesday, after a 14-hour flight from Chile. A total of 946 arrived in the capital, where they will spend 30 days in quarantine before being used for their fleece, which is reputed to be as soft as cashmere, in the Xinjiang Uygur and Inner Mongolia autonomous regions.
