Deng and his wife Zhuo Lin during the "cultural revolution" (1966-76). Mao Zedong launched the "revolution" in 1966, during which Deng fell out of favor and was forced to retire from all positions. In October 1969, he was sent to the Xinjian County Tractor Factory in Jiangxi province to work as a regular worker and stayed there for four years. |
