Yunnan province leads in gender disparity in the registered matchmaking market, Chuncheng Evening News reported on Tuesday.

Single men accounted for 70 percent of those registered on matchmaking sites in the province. With single women making up the balance of 30 percent, this was the widest gap nationally.

The province has also seen a sharp rise in divorces.

By the end of October, 5,735 couples registered for marriage but 2,684 couples filed for divorce, more than the previous two years, although the figure only represented 10 months.
