The People's Liberation Army began to change all its uniforms in 2007. It was the largest-scale uniform change in the history of the army, involving 644 types of uniforms. In line with UN resolutions, China dispatched naval ships to conduct escort operations in the Gulf of Aden and waters off Somalia on Dec 26, 2008.
