UK Prime Minister condoles on HK ferry crash victims

HONG KONG - British Prime Minister David Cameron expressed condolence to the victims in the disastrous ferry collision happened in Hong Kong on?Oct 1, according to a British Consulate-General Hong Kong press release on Wednesday.

The press release said, following the tragic crash, which claimed 38 lives, Cameron has written to Hong Kong Chief Executive CY Leung, expressing his sadness at the accident at a time when families were celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival and Chinese National Day.

He said that their thoughts and condolences were with the families and friends of those who lost their lives, and with the many survivors.

British Foreign Office Minister Hugo Swire also grieved over the victims, saying he was deeply saddened by news of the accident. "Our thoughts and sincere condolences are with everyone involved in or affected by the disaster," he said.

Two vessels, with about 100 people onboard, collided on Monday evening off the Lamma Island to the southwest of the Hong Kong Island, 38 passengers were killed in the sea disaster.
