The International Business Daily urged the US should not use "national security" as an excuse for protectionism to hinder Chinese companies from acquiring foreign companies after China National Offshore Oil Corporation's application to purchase Canada's Nexen Inc encountered a tough censor. About 10 percent of Nexen’s assets are located in the US, making the acquisition impossible without the permission of the US government. |
