Thief hangs up on feelings of fear, turns self in

A man living in misery for 10 years simply because he stole a cell phone from a pedestrian finally found peace of mind when he was caught by police.
The 28-year-old man, surnamed Lu, stole the phone in Kunming, Yunnan province, in November 2001, and has been on the police's wanted list since.
In the past decade, the man lived in fear almost every minute.
"I couldn't update my old ID card for a second generation one, couldn't get a marriage license nor get a registered residence for my child," he said. "Now, my nightmare is over," he said after police caught him at his house in neighboring Guizhou province.
Lu was sent to Kunming, where the case is under further investigation.
