NE China police hunt prison runaways

HARBIN: Police in northeast China's Heilongjiang province are hunting for two convicts who escaped from a prison in the provincial capital Harbin on Tuesday, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
The convicts escaped from Liming Prison in the outer Dongli District Tuesday morning, officials with the city's public security bureau said.
The news had caused fear among the public, they said.
According to an Internet posting by netizen "zuijiao", all shops near the prison were closed before 7 pm Tuesday and police searched every passing vehicle for the escapees.
