A senior high school student has launched an online protest against extracurricular classes at school, Xiaoxiang Morning Post reported today.

"I have to attend so many extracurricular classes at school that I even dreamed about spelling out 'A, B, C' at night," said the unnamed organizer in the Sixth Middle School of Yiyang in Hunan province.

The student was reportedly calling on all middle school students to join his move and even planed to distribute a united plate board featuring themselves.

"The school never forces students to attend extracurricular classes. It was some students who lagged behind wanted to catch up and asked the teachers to tutor them," said the headmaster of the school, surnamed Xie.

Responding to this, a student sent a text message to the school headmaster saying that if they don't want to attend such classes, they are required to ask their parents' permission. "You know our parents will never give us permission to skip such classes. It's compulsory," the student said.

"We just want more sleep and play," an unnamed student told the Xiaoxiang Morning Post.

The school has cut four days of extracurricular classes, running from February 1 to February 6, the report said. February 13 is the traditional Chinese New Year.
