Names of Chinese missing in Haiti released

A rescue team searching for survivors in Haiti is approaching the floor of the UN headquarters where eight Chinese peacekeepers are believed to be buried, xinhuanet.com reported today.

The eight were holding peacekeeping consultations with UN staff in the headquarters of the UN Stabilization Mission in the capital Port-au-Prince when the devastating quake struck, according to a statement from the Ministry of Public Security.

Li Xiaoming, male, 35, official of the International Cooperation Bureau of MPS

Zhao Huayu, male, 38, captain of Chinese civilian police in Haiti

Li Qin, male, 47, chief of staff of Yunnan frontier defense corps; commissar of Chinese riot squad in Haiti

Zhong Jianqin, male, 35, official of Yunnan frontier defense corps and Chinese riot squad in Haiti

He Zhihong, female, 35, political instructor of Kunming frontier checkpoint of Yunnan frontier defense corps; liaison officer of Chinese riot squad in Haiti
