Second-quarter net profits of the 362 listed firms that released their interim reports by August 9 grew 61.87 percent compared with the previous quarter, the Beijing-based Securities Daily reported today.

The 362 companies' net profits totaled 20.91 billion yuan in the second quarter, up from 12.92 billion yuan in the first quarter. But their net profits in the first half fell 19.76 percent to 37.96 billion yuan.

As many as 303 companies reported profitability in the first half, about 83.7 percent of the total, according to the paper.
