Over 300 Chinese companies plan to restructure

Over 300 Chinese enterprises listed in the domestic stock exchanges have submitted asset restructuring plans to regulators this year, the Guangzhou-based New Express Daily reported on Wednesday, citing an anonymous source in a domestic brokerage.

The paper identified six fields that will see intensive restructuring in the second half based on the country'ss policy support: steel, military suppliers, automobiles, chemical, electronics and coal.

Restructuring will be a hot topic in the second half of 2009 as investors look to see which companies will come out strongest, the New Express Daily quoted industry expert Wang Zhenqian as saying.
