Family sues woman over husband's medical bills

Updated: 2009-02-21 08:02 A woman who refuses to pay her husband's medical bills has been sued by the man's family in Changsha, Hunan province. Liu Liliang's brother Liu Jiankun said his sister-in-law, Xie Xiaomao, has failed to perform her duty as a wife, for refusing to pay. Xie argued that she's already paid between 70,000 yuan ($10,250) and 80,000 yuan for Liu Liliang to see doctors. She no longer helps because the cancer is advanced, she said. She sells vegetables in a local bazaar to support her two young daughters and her husband. (Xiaoxiang Morning Post) |
