Matchmaking party for PhDs lure 400 women

Some 400 women, mainly office workers, registered for a matchmaking gathering with single men who work for institutions of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, in Beijing.

"We ran the gathering along with a matchmaking website as a special year-end bonus for our staff, mostly PhD holders above 30," a spokesman from the CAS said.

"We actually love life as much as they do," Liu, a PhD holder, said about the women. "Besides, we're all eager to get married and have a family life."

Most women registered on the Internet with the hopes of finding Mr Right, a stable income and a happy life.
