Marrying an older woman is no longer a taboo for men in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong province.
Statistics from the Guangzhou municipal bureau of civil affairs show that the number of male residents marrying older women has been on the rise in recent years.
The southern metropolis grants between 60,000 and 80,000 marriage certificates a year. Of those, about 10 percent go to couples in which the wives are older than husbands.
And the trend looks set to continue as the status of women evolves to suit the new economic and social conditions.
Many families with younger husbands are living harmonious and happy lives.
