Man plans own kidnapping to escape mistress

Police in Jinan, capital of Shandong Province, have uncovered a self-directed
kidnapping.
A middle-aged man surnamed Li ordered his own kidnapping in order to get away
from his mistress. He had promised to offer the mistress 450,000 yuan
(US$56,689) if they separated from each other.
Li had planned to ask for ransom from the mistress and his parents in order
to pay the mistress the amount he had promised, and to pay compensation for his
wife. Li also thought he would commit suicide after he managed to pay the two
women off.
However, the police found out about Li's swindle within three days.
