351 mainland companies listed on HKEx

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong Exchange and Clearing Limited (HKEx) said on Saturday
that by the end of July, 2006, a total of 351 Chinese mainland enterprises had
been listed on the HKEx.
A spokesman of the HKEx said in an interview with Xinhua that of those
mainland companies, 272 are listed on the main board of the HKEx.
He said the market capitalization of the 351 companies are about 4.42
trillion HK dollars (569 billion U.S. dollars), accounting for 44 percent of
Hong Kong stock market's total.
In the first seven months of this year, the traded volume of the Chinese
mainland enterprises on the Hong Kong stock market accounted for 57 percent of
the market's total.
In term of fund raising volume of the initial public offering for companies
listing in the HKEx, the mainland companies occupied top 10 in the past dozens
of years, he said.
