A tearful Shanghai woman accepted her boyfriend's marriage proposal early on Monday morning all thanks to an Ox.
Inspired by the myth behind the "qixi" festival, or Chinese Valentine's Day, the man, surnamed Zhang, borrowed an ox from pastureland in the Shanghai suburbs and led it to his girlfriend's residential quarter shortly after midnight.
He knelt down to propose and promised to love the girl as faithfully as the cowboy loved the weaver maid in the thousand-year-old Chinese fairytale.
