Selling at $999, iRobot Mirra is a pool cleaner designed to clean in-ground pools without using the pool's filtration system, hoses or booster pumps. Mirra uses a brush to actively scrub the pool surfaces as the robot moves, allowing the robot to lift dirt, algae and bacteria off the pool floor and walls, including at the water line where oils and bacteria can build up. IRobot Corp, Mirra's designer, was founded in 1990 by Massachusetts Institute of Technology roboticists. In 2013, iRobot generated $487 million in revenue and employed more than 500 of the robot industry's top professionals, including mechanical, electrical and software engineers.
