Baidu Inc, China's biggest search engine, said its mobile search traffic has registered triple-digit growth compared with last year amid a transition from personal computers to mobile devices, said a company official.

The company will cash in on the transition with "multiple starting points", including providing advertising products based on mobile Web browsers and mobile applications, Robin Li, Baidu's chairman and chief executive officer, said at a conference call in Beijing on Oct 30.

His remarks came after the company said its net income grew by about 60 percent in the third quarter year-on-year to just over 3 billion yuan ($478.6 million), according to a statement.

Baidu's revenue in the third quarter was 6.251 billion yuan, an increase of 49.7 percent from the same period last year, driven by "encouraging customer growth", said Li in the statement.

Baidu will accelerate its pace of investment and may also "leverage mergers and acquisitions to complement organic development", said Jennifer Li, Baidu's chief financial officer.
