Gold price opens lower in Hong Kong -- May 17

HONG KONG -- The gold price in Hong Kong went down HK$65 to open at HK$13,835 per tael on Tuesday, according to the Chinese Gold and Silver Exchange Society.

The price is equivalent to $1,493.10 a troy ounce, down $7.02 at the latest exchange rate of one US dollar against HK$7.778.
