HK gov't okays three airlines' fuel surcharge raise

HONG KONG - The Civil Aviation Department (CAD) of Hong Kong gave approval on Friday for passenger fuel surcharges levied by three airlines.

They are All Nippon Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways and Singapore Airlines. Fuel surcharges are to be increased for the period from April 1 to 30, 2011.

The new maximum levels of fuel surcharges will be HK$194 ($25) for short-haul flights and HK$884 for long-haul flights, an increase of 18 percent from the current maximum levels for short and long-haul flights.

Passenger fuel surcharges are reviewed regularly by CAD.

The last review was done at the end of February when the maximum surcharge levels approved by CAD were HK$165 for short-haul flights and HK$747 for long-haul flights.
