HK stocks close 0.97% higher -- July 8

HONG KONG - Hong Kong stocks went up 193.49 points, or 0.97 percent, to close at 20,050.56 points on Thursday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index opened 1.88 percent higher and soon peaked at 20,236.18 before finished the midday 1.47 percent higher. The index was mainly moving downward in the afternoon session, hitting the day low of 20,002.01 shortly before the end of trading hours.

Turnover expanded to HK$45.48 billion ($5.84 billion), compared to HK$42.5 billion on Wednesday.
