New grads' average starting salary increases to 2,649 yuan

The average starting salary offer reached 2,694 yuan for 2010 graduates, 10 percent higher than last year's alumni, and standing at the same level with the year of 2008, according to a recent survey by zhaopin.com, China's online recruitment pioneer.

New graduates had expected to be offered to 2,935 yuan, 9 percent more than the employers can offer.

The average staring offer for new graduates with bachelor's degrees, master's degrees and doctorate rose to 2,321 yuan, 3,245 yuan and 4,681 yuan, respectively, up 9.47 percent, 14 percent and 8.23 percent, respectively, from last year. And undergraduates saw the highest increase.

Among the enterprises, European or US foreign-funded enterprises offered the highest staring salary, 3,678 yuan, followed by European or US joint ventures, non-European or non-US foreign-funded enterprises and non-European or non-US joint enterprise, state-owned enterprises and finally private enterprises. And the staring offer by state-owned and private enterprises enjoyed 10 percent growth.

The three highest average salary offers went to graduates majoring in finance and insurance, computer-related fields and real estate or construction, amounting to 3,027 yuan, 2,901 yuan and 2,771 yuan, respectively.
