China's stocks close up on Thursday

BEIJING: Chinese shares closed up on Thursday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index edging up 1.15 percent to 2,655.92 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index gained 1.75 percent, or 181.64 points, to 10,543.33 points.

Total turnover expanded to 176.92 billion yuan ($25.90 billion) from 140.58 billion yuan on the previous trading day.

Gainers outnumbered losers by 830 to 39 in Shanghai and 916 to 31 in Shenzhen.
