Chinese software standard approved by int'l consortium

A Chinese software standard has been approved by the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS), the China Electronics Standardization Association (CESA) announced on Tuesday.

The standard, Unstructured Operation Markup Language, is a read and write access standard for electronic documents and was created by CESA.

It was the first Chinese software standard accepted by the international organization.

An official with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said the ministry would encourage use of the standard.

OASIS is a not-for-profit consortium that drives the development, convergence and adoption of open standards.
