CITIC Resources Holdings said it is looking to acquire more assets after recently gaining approval from its shareholders to buy Karazhanbas oilfield in Kazakhstan for 7.8 billion HK dollars from parent CITIC Group.

CITIC Resources vice chairman Shou Xuancheng said the company is "looking at other oil acquisition opportunities," although he did not elaborate.

The company purchased a 50 percent interest in the field from CITIC Group last month which will allow it to explore, develop and produce oil on the site until 2020.

In May, CITIC Recources also said it would spend 150 million US dollars on a 90 percent stake in an oilfield in China's Bohai Bay Basin off Liaoning Province.
