Energy: Sinopec plant starts(Shanghai Daily)Updated: 2007-03-06 14:00 Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical Co's new 1.2 billion yuan (US$154 million) ethylene glycol facility has started production, making the company China's largest producer of the chemical compound by capacity. The new plant has an annual capacity of 380,000 tons for ethylene glycol, bringing the company's total to 610,000 tons, SPC said yesterday. Ethylene glycol is used in the making of a wide variety of industrial compounds and in certain cosmetics. It is used most commonly as an automobile antifreeze.
